AIWWA Hosts Awarding Ceremony for Best Handloom Weavers 2024, Celebrating Craftsmanship and Tradition

Salem, October 15, 2024 — The All India Weavers Welfare Association (AIWWA) celebrated the outstanding achievements of India’s finest handloom artisans at the prestigious Best Handloom Weavers 2024 Awarding Ceremony. The event was held at Sri Sumangali Tirumana Mandapam in Mecheri, Salem, and was graced by the Hon’ble Governor of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. R.N. Ravi, as the Chief Guest. The esteemed presence of His Holiness Sri Sri Sri Dhayanandhapuri Mahaswamiji, Devanga Kula Jagatguru and Founder of AIWWA, added to the spiritual and cultural significance of the occasion.

The ceremony brought together prominent leaders, industry representatives, and skilled weavers to honor the craft that has been the lifeblood of Tamil Nadu’s rich textile heritage. Governor R.N. Ravi recognized the dedication and expertise of the handloom weavers, celebrating their invaluable contribution to preserving the traditions of this ancient craft. Among the notable attendees were key figures in the handloom and textile industry, including Sri Prabhakaran, owner of Sri Sudarshana Silks, Mecheri, and President of AIWWA; Sri Annadurai, Secretary of AIWWA; and Cavalier Dr. M.S. Mathivaanan, Chairman of SSM College of Engineering. Devanga Kula Rathan Sri M.S. Nagendra was also present, lending his voice to the discussions.
