The All India Devang, Devangan, Koshti, Koshta Federation (Reg. No. 1432-18) is proud to honor the life and legacy of Sri Sri Sri Dayanand Puri Mahaswamiji, the revered Devanga Kula Jagatguru and Peethadhipati of the historic Gayatri Peetha, Hampi. His journey reflects deep spiritual dedication, visionary leadership, and a lifelong mission to uplift the Devanga community across India and beyond.
🌟 Early Life & Education
Born into the noble family of Shri Mudusang Swamiji, the first Devanga Dharmaguru of the Gayatri Peetha Mahasansthan of Hemkuta, Hampi, Swamiji showed a divine calling from a young age.
- Primary education: Raichur district
- High school: Ilkal, Karnataka
In the 1980s, when elders of North Karnataka formed a committee to revive the Gayatri Peetha (vacant for nearly 200 years), a call was made to select a young successor. Among 50 candidates, young Dayanand Puri was chosen, with the guidance of his father.
He pursued Sanskrit and Vedic studies at Kailash Ashram, Bengaluru, and later completed a Master’s degree in Sanskrit and Ancient Vedas in Mysuru.
On 30th April 1990, in a grand ceremony attended by spiritual leaders and thousands of devotees, he was formally declared Peethadhish of Gayatri Peetha, Hampi.
🙏 Building the Gayatri Peetha & Community Service
Upon assuming the Peethadhipati role, Swamiji dedicated himself to the education, social justice, and upliftment of the Devanga community.
Key milestones:
- 1997: Chief Guest at the Devanga Conference in Pune.
- 1998: Organized the All India Devang Conference at Bangalore Palace Grounds with over 5 lakh attendees.
- 1999: Inaugurated the first branch of the Matha at Trimurti Malai Hill, Coimbatore.
- 2000s onward: Expanded branches, spiritual centers, and community services across India.
🏫 Education & Social Welfare Initiatives
Swamiji firmly believes that education is the foundation of empowerment. Under his guidance:
- Ved Pathshala established at Hampi Matha.
- Free middle school at Malthan Gudi educating 500 underprivileged children up to 10th standard.
- Entire school operations and salaries are supported by the Gayatri Peetha.
He also built Samudaya Bhavan, Ashram buildings, Goshala, and Meditation Centers at Nelamangala (Bangalore), inaugurated in 2023 by CM Siddaramaiah.
🛕 Temples, Ashrams & Dharmashalas
Swamiji has tirelessly worked to preserve sacred traditions while serving pilgrims:
- Daily puja at the 800-year-old Gayatri Matha and Ramlingeshwar temples at Hampi, originally patronized by King Krishnadevaraya of Vijayanagar.
- Dharmashalas established in Rameshwaram, Badami, and Tirupati.
- Ramling Yatri Niwas at Mallikarjuna Kshetra, Srisailam, Andhra Pradesh.
🌍 Global Outreach
Swamiji has also extended his blessings globally. He toured the USA twice to meet and inspire Devanga families living abroad, strengthening cultural ties and spiritual unity worldwide.
🤝 Founding of the All India Federation
In 2016, Mangalore, Swamiji founded the All India Devang, Devangan, Koshti, Koshta Federation with representatives from 12 states.
- Shri Arun Varode, Pune, was selected as National President.
- Today, the Federation works actively across India under Swamiji’s guidance, focusing on the welfare, unity, and progress of the Devanga community.

From reviving the ancient Gayatri Peetha to creating modern institutions for education and social upliftment, Sri Sri Sri Dayanand Puri Mahaswamiji’s life is a beacon of faith, service, and cultural preservation. His vision continues to inspire millions, reminding the Devanga community of its rich heritage and responsibility to carry forward the legacy of Sri Devala Maharishi.
